ruth weiss est une poète d’origine autrichienne, performeuse, actrice et artiste qui a fait carrière et habite aux Etats Unis, comme membre de la Beat Generation. weiss écrit son nom en minuscule comme une protestation symbolique contre la “loi et l’ordre”. En 1939, elle fuit l’Autriche pour échapper à l’horreur du régime Nazi, et prendra le dernier train possible pour traverser la frontière autrichienne.

ruth weiss is a Austrian-born poet, performer, playwright and artist who made her home and career in the United States, as a member of the Beat Generation. weiss spells her name in lowercase as a symbolic protest against "law and order". In 1939, she fled Austria in order to escape the horror of the Nazi regime, and took the last train allowed to cross the Austrian border.
